Hifi VCR
I have a problem with my sound on my VCR.?
I have a Panasonic HIFI VCR that I bought 4 years ago. The sound started acting up around A year ago (a lot of distortion, seems to have a little bit of static as well). I wet cleaned it and it is still doing the same. The video appears to be fine for the most part. What can the problem be? Would it be expensive to do? Can it be cheaper if I did? Difficult for a beginner like me to fix it? On Thank you in advance for any help!
Is it doing so in all tapes? If not, the problem may actually be on tape instead. If it is, will I try changing the cable that connects the VCR to your TV. If it is a coax cable, I would look for an RG6 cable with F-type connectors at both ends. If it is a different type of cable, Just try to get a new one. It is the easiest and cheapest way to hopefully resolve it. If it does not work, then you probably have a more serious problem internally to your VCR. It is unusual for the sound to bypass the video to go, but I imagine it can happen. Fixing it will probably cost more in labor and materials than simply buying a second VCR, at the time, unless you have a close friend who will take it out and work on it for free ...
