What is the difference between the ratio of 1500:1 and 2000:1 ratio for projectors?
Specifically, I am trying to choose between a Toshiba TDP-ET10U projector or an Infocus 2102 DLP Projector. What would be the best choice?
I assume Toshiba is LCD and has an XVGA projector. Generally, higher contrast ratio is better But if you compare an LCD to a DLP, I would go with DLP, whether or not the Contrast Ratio is less ... DLP will give much more richer colors than LCD. Now, address the more specific questions, the more to 1 ratio (2000:1 vs 1500:1) the greater the number of color choices between black and white on the scale. The ratio is misleading since they actually dealing in millions of colors not thousands, as represented by numbers. Another thing to consider is how many colors chipsets are projectors. Most cheap DLPs only has 1 and again has a resolution of 1500 - 3000:1. The higher end DLPs have 3 color chips and are capable of 10 times as many. (They also cost $ 6 - 7000) Hope that helps
